1. The beginning and the current state
In 2022 I came up with the idea of creating a mosque for Osterburg.
During Ramadan 2023, work was carried out on the statutes and the articles of association.
The non-profit status and other factors had to be taken into account.
As a club it would work cheaper and faster, but you never know what will happen after new elections and in which direction.
That's why I decided to work for a non-profit company (such as Lebenshilfe etc.)
The notary appointment was set for August 2nd.
At the beginning of July I saw something very interesting on the Internet:
Residential and commercial building in Osterburg for auction. I looked at the offer and saw the address:
Big market 12
Where in Germany is there a mosque on the market? Nowhere !
Most mosques are located in backyards, commercial areas, apartments or garages, unfortunately?
Why should only Christians and Jews have their magnificent buildings in the center of cities.
The 10th President of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Wulff said, among other things, on the 20th anniversary of reunification:
I quote:
Christianity undoubtedly belongs to Germany.
Judaism undoubtedly belongs to Germany.
This is our Christian-Jewish history.
But Islam now also belongs to Germany. ( Quote end )
I would like to see a mosque in Osterburg by the 40th anniversary.
Address: Großer Markt 12
That's why I went to the district court in Stendal on July 27, 2023 and took part in the auction.
To my surprise, I was the only candidate.
So I raised my hand when the auction started.
The time until the hammer fell was very exciting, someone could have come through the door.
Luckily, or Allah's will, no one came and the judge congratulated me.
After a few days I was at Döner's and asked the boss:
Look out the window. what do you see there?
He just replied dryly: It's raining.
A few days later, the shooting brother Krombholz brought me the new keys from the property instead of the old ones
There were no keys anymore.
After being vacant for over 30 years, the first viewing took place.
From the outside - well, it was still standing.
From the inside, the shop was still visible.
The stairs are still stable.
The roof is still almost tight, fortunately. Because there are no longer any side walls.
The extension to the right to the rear collapsed.
The farm is overgrown in the cultivation area.
Luckily the rest of the yard has been worked on by the neighbor and is clean. Thank you very much.
You don't have to pay for good neighbors; you have to be lucky that they still exist.
Overall, a lot has to be invested in the house and the property, because the wall to the city library
is no longer the youngest and some of the trees on the edge have already grown too big.
2 22. The idea of converting it into a mosque
Idea for the external facade to the market
The front is very narrow.
There will be a public toilet module where the door is on the left side. This creates income that is intended to cover water and sewage fees and electricity costs.
The windows on the right used to go all the way down, as you can still see.
A large entrance door made of glass or wood comes in there.
The upper windows should have mosaic elements.
The attic should have a balcony.
There used to be a large clock on the outside facade. A retro would be an idea.
The shop used to be a watch, gold and silver shop
by master watchmaker Carl Hüttinger. There was a shortage there until the fall of the Wall.
A fountain welcomes worshipers in the foyer after entering the mosque. Water means life, without water we wouldn't be here. The believers go from here to the prayer room. Men on the left and women on the right.
The stairs on the left go to the first floor to the imam's office.
The prayer room will be a hall with a dome approximately 7 meters wide and up to 15 meters long. Inshallah.
The entire front faces Mecca through a small incline. This means that men have around 2/3 of the prayer area and women have around 1/3 of the prayer area. The parts are separated by ballistrades. The prayer room has underfloor heating and the carpets are selected in advance by the believers.
The hall building will have Moorish architecture.
A beautiful small garden with a pavilion will be created behind the building.
